REDWOODS (EARTH)

Old-growth Redwoods are a powerful nature-based solution.

They can sequester and store more carbon than any other forest on the planet. Redwoods are the tallest trees in the world and can live up to 2,000 years old.

What problems do old-growth Redwoods solve?

As long as the tree is living, it can store carbon in its massive trunk and soils below, feeding the tree and enabling it to release oxygen while supporting the forest's biodiversity.

Rather than planting new trees that take decades to grow, we need to protect old-growth forests that can grow in perpetuity.

The 50,000 Acre Forest supports the community's economic stability, restores fish and animal habitats, and is one of the most beneficial ways we can sequester and store carbon on land.

The Save the Redwoods League this year gave over 400 acres of Redwood Forest back to a coalition of 10 indigenous tribes through the InterTribal Sinyone Wilderness Council.

Giving back land to stewards ensures the forest's permanence while supporting acts of social justice.
