DIRECT AIR CAPTURE & STORAGE (AIR)

Direct air capture and storage is a powerful engineered carbon solution.

What was considered impossible 10 years ago is now regarded as one of the fundamental pillars within our strategy to reverse global warming. 2022 was the most significant investment year for air capture and storage technologies, with a combined 5 billion from U.S federal programs and private sector support.

These massive machines extract Co2 from the ambient air and permanently store it into the ground.

What problems does Direct Air Capture & Storage help solve?

Unlike nature, humans have a knack for creating forever materials like styrofoam, toxic waste, and microplastics.

In the context of Co2 storage, the concept of forever is pretty innovative. Humans like Musk and Gates are doubling down, investing millions, or developing their air capture technologies.

Direct air capture technologies are a powerful means to address emissions in urban or industrial areas that lack natural opportunities for carbon sequestration, like trees or mangroves.

Direct Air Capture & Storage is one of many powerful technologies to help us achieve gigaton scale carbon sequestration and lower global temperatures.

Climeworks built the first ever Direct Air Capture plant  in Iceland running on geothermal energy.  They’re partnered with Carbfix, who take the carbon that is captured at these facilities and then permanently and safely blast that carbon into the ground to be stored forever.
